If you have an LG commercial grade screen you may have noticed the screen comes with webOS. WebOS is a Linux based operating system for LG smart TVs and you can use this to run your own digital signage app without the need of an external media player. The LG commercial grade screens have an internal media player and the hardware specs for these are pretty average but they do the job of running most web apps.
At Advertise Me, we use the LG screens to run web apps such as Social Wall, Digital Wayfinding Solutions, Digital Signage and custom web apps we build for clients.
The LG webOS software is a web dashboard that allows you to control the screen remotely. Have a look this quick video that shows you more about the LG webOS software:
There is also the LG webOS emulator that you can install on your computer and simulate the webOS software. There are limited functions when using the emulator but it does give you a good idea of how the LG screen system works with your web app. You can read more about it in this article USING THE LG WEBOS DIGITAL SIGNAGE EMULATOR and watch this video:
If you have any questions about the LG webOS software and emulator feel free to reach out.
